Dermal fillers are small injections of hyaluronic acid, that fill in wrinkles and add volume to soft tissue. You can typically use dermal fillers around the lower end of the face, jawline, nose and to plump lips.

Whether it's treating fine lines or ageing skin, dermal fillers offer the ideal solution.

As we age our skin loses hyaluronic acid and fine lines start to appear. Factors such as sun damage, smoking, weight loss and changes in bone density can cause skin to age and sag.

Adding Dermal fillers to replace the volume lost and replenish hyaluronic acid, can help to lift the skin and plump out those unwanted lines.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are available in different formulations, some with the addition of local anaesthetic (lidocaine).

To ensure comfortable treatments, local anaesthetic cream is also used to numb the surface of the skin

A full consultation with our advanced aesthetics practitioner will give a plan of treatment tailored to your individual needs.

Although dermal fillers give an instant result for most people, additional treatments may be required to achieve the desired effect.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar chain molecule that is found in all skin and tissues throughout the body, in our skin, bones, joints and eyes . It attracts and binds water in the skin, making it a fantastic hydrator and allows it to provide volume to the skin. As a child HA accounts for 3% of our body mass, but this reduces to 0.0007% by age 45, a reduction of over 4250 times! As we naturally have this within our bodies, we also break it down in a natural way. Dermal Fillers are never permanent but can be topped up or dissolved at any time.

Dermal fillers are supplied in a pre-filled sterile syringe for injection.  They are manufactured in different thicknesses; some are more gel-like, and others are more liquid.  The thicker ones are used to restore the deeper folds or wrinkles such as those between the nose and the corner of the mouth. The thinner ones are used more superficially for fine lines such as crow’s feet.

The length of time that dermal fillers last depends on the type of filler used and the area injected. On average, you would expect the results of a Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers to last around 6-12 months. Thicker dermal fillers tend to last longer than those used for finer lines.

Whilst most people can benefit from this treatment, there are certain medications and conditions that contraindicate its use, this will be discussed during the consultation process.
